State Exam Reviews
State Exam Review PowerPointThis takes about two days in class, or you can do it as homework. Students work through the PowerPoint and answer the questions in the packet. Included is the PowerPoint in both the regular pptx file, and also as a show file so students can watch it without PowerPoint.
This review was created by Ashley Higgs in South Jordan, Utah, with some revisions made by me. I don't even collect this assignment to grade--not that I tell them that! |

State Exam Review GameI played this game with my students the day before the test. Some of them said that it really helped them realize what they didn't know. There are many ways to do it, but this is how I do it. I put them in six teams, with about 3-5 members in each team. Each team has a mini-whiteboard. I create a semi-circle in the middle of my room. For each question, a new member comes up and takes over answering the question for their team, and the scorekeeper keeps track on the board. After the question is asked, they write the answer without help from their team. At the same time they flip them, and then points are awarded. The team that wins gets a prize. Also, there is a worksheet that students fill out what they THINK the answer is before it's announced. That way, even if they aren't up that round, they are still engaged and answering questions.
