Standard 4 - Electronic Communications - Students will use multiple processes of communication. They will understand what appropriate means of communication is most beneficial for a given task's purpose and audience.
Objective 1: Interact with and identify different types of electronic communication/collaboration
I love how this standard has been fleshed out to include not just email but all forms of electronic communication like social media, blogs, and cell phones. I created an interactive power point for this standard. Students can work through it on their own and fill out the accompanying workbook. I tried to get away from the "I lecture, you write" platform as much as possible. I usually spend a few minutes at the beginning of each day having a 10 minute discussion about that day's subject, and then let them just go for it. It takes about four days to get through it, but it could probably take less without the discussions.
You will need to go through and check all the video links and update it for your class. I have written in red on slides that you will need to make changes to. I have put Remind101 in there--you will need to put your own information in that slide, or delete the activity altogether if you do not wish to include it. This file is saved in PPT format--however, I would suggest that you save it yourself in the PPSX or Show format for your students, so that they cannot alter it but can only watch it. Also, some of the videos are just linked to youtube. If your district does not allow youtube you will want to download the video, replace it, or get rid of it altogether.

Objective 2: Search Effectively
I adapted this worksheet from one I found from something I found online. The tough part is helping students choose their subject--If they want to find a forum where people are discussing their topic, they need to focus more on an ISSUE rather than a SUBJECT.

Objective 3: Students recognize ways in which human lives interact with and utilize computers.
