Keyboarding
Keyboarding can be SO BORING!!! I have designed several lessons that supplement your keyboarding instruction and can spice up your class a bit. All of my keyboarding lessons are NOT listed here, so make sure to check out the Keyboarding section of my store!
Letter Writing Unit
This lesson is far and away my best seller on all of TPT. The lesson can be covered over the course of one week to three weeks, depending on how deep you go. It includes 21 lessons, a step by step video, a key, and a final exam. The unit is also designed so that it can be taught with just one style, Block and Mixed punctuation, or with two styles, including Modified Block and Open. Because there is a video, its nice to have students who are behind or absent be able to catch up by video instead of trying to teach it to them privately.

Corrected Letters & Self Grading Business Letters in Excel
These two lessons are supplements for the Letter Writing Unit above. The Corrected Letters allow students to pull up letters that are already typed but incorrect, and change them to make them correct. It's a great way to reinforce proper spacing, etc. The second lesson uses Excel--I know, totally weird--to help students recognize their spacing. The assignment is self-grading, so if they type it incorrectly, they will get immediate feedback and points, letting them know they did it correctly.

Proofreading Unit
This is an entire unit on teaching proofreading in Keyboarding. It includes a PowerPoint, step by step instructional video that will teach everything on the PowerPoint, and a corresponding packet. It also includes a short final quiz. This is designed from a Keyboarding class perspective but could also be used in Language Arts.

Complaint Letters Fun Activity
This is my second biggest seller, and it's absolutely classroom tested. I've used this game for years in my classroom, but when I added the cards that the kids draw out of the envelopes, it was a whole new level of fun! The students draw one card out of each envelope--each envelope is one of the four parts of a complaint letter: product, problem, consequence, and action requested. They then write a letter with the info on their cards--but it might not match up too well! I could have a lipstick that is too runny, and so my boyfriend broke up with me, and I am requesting $1,000 in compensation! No matter what odd combination you get, make it work! And do it in proper business letter format!

Keyboarding Games
I love to use PowerPoint to create fun keyboarding games! Many of them are actual board games that are converted into a keyboarding format. I won't go into too much detail about each one here, but click on the image to check each of them out!
Creative Writing Games
I teach a unit at the very end where students learn to type from their head instead of just copy. It's a great cross-over with Language Arts. Below are a few lessons I've created for this section that are a lot of fun! They can be used in a Creative Writing class as well.
Self-Grading Assignments
I love using Excel to make Self-Grading assignments. That means that the students type their answers in Excel, which will automatically calculate a score for them on a score sheet. This gives them immediate feedback, and also makes YOUR job a lot easier! Below are two assignments I've created for Keyboarding--one for teaching 10-Key and another that is an accuracy lesson, where students type answers to simple questions as quickly as they can.
