About Mrs. ReesI began teaching in 2004, and soon discovered my absolute love of writing new curriculum. Making something fun and entertaining is my favorite thing to do! I have enjoyed sharing my lesson plans for a number of years at our Summer Conferences, and felt that creating a central website would be useful. I am currently teaching in the classroom full time, and all lessons on this site are classroom tested on my students.
I also began selling my lesson plans on Teachers Pay Teachers, which has caused me to be more deliberate and careful when I write plans--they are better because of it, and I feel I have improved a great deal in the last year since I started to sell. On this site I am sharing some of my plans for free, and others are provided only to Utah teachers for free. Contact me via your school email if you are a Utah teacher and would like the password. Some of my best stuff I reserve for Teachers Pay Teachers only, and you are most welcome to browse my site! If you use may plans, whether free or not, please credit them and do not post them online for your students unless they are passworded. Feel free to email me and let me know how it went in your classroom! I love to hear from teachers who have used my lessons. It gives me great joy to know that something that started in my head is being used throughout the state to enrich the lives of our students! Thank you! So I've used this planning sheet for years and thought I'd share. It's very simple, and although it's in Excel it can easily be imported into Google. The first sheet allows you to set up your classes--Enter the date of the first Monday of each quarter. Then type in the names of each class.
I only have it designed for the 7 period rotation, so if you have AB Block with 8 periods it's not set up that way.

Business Bulletin Board! And now my other board is done! One of my boards, below, focuses on all career areas. The other focuses on just MY area--Business, as well as Marketing and Information Technology. In CTE Intro we give away "KASH" or fake money, that the kids earn throughout the quarter and then spend at an auction twice a quarter. I've had complaints from the kids that I don't give out enough money. So I created this job board--kids who want to earn extra money can do extra assignments that are in the fields my class focuses on--Business, Marketing, Information Technology, and Careers in general. I am still in the process of writing all the assignments that go with these jobs--I have three left! I will post more detail on them as I get them finished, if you would like copies. As for making the board, I used actual want ads for the background, and then used my trusty Silhouette machine to cut out the border, ads, and the business silhouettes.
The jobs include things like making an extra power point, special assignments in Word and Excel, looking up a career they are interested in and filling out a worksheet, creating a program with Scratch, etc. These assignments are also great for missing students. I had a few of these assignments made up at the end of last year, and when I had a student out for a suspension for the last four weeks of school, I just gave him some of these assignments for his work instead. It was nice to have them already made up. He made me an awesome PowerPoint on an entrepreneur. Anyway, it's that crazy time of year where I have a million things going on, but I will try to p |
My New Bulletin Board!hought I'd share with you all my new bulletin board I just completed! I love it! I used my amazing handy dandy Silhouette machine to cut out the compass and titles. The borders I made in Photoshop, then used my Silhouette to cut them out. Each picture represents a career within that pathway. The wording is all done with vinyl in my Silhouette machine. And then the papers are all careers found within that career pathway. Anyway, it makes me happy to see it every day so I thought I'd share it with all of you in case you are looking for a fresh idea for your room!
**UPDATE** I've had so many requests for more detail about this board, that I though I'd post some of my resources. You can find all the files to create this board here: |
The file includes a zipfile with all the borders. Know that I cut them with my Silhouette machine, so if you don't have one you won't be able to get the film strip holes along the sides. If you DO have a Silhouette machine and don't know how to create a .studio file to cut them out, let me know and I will walk you through it.
A lot of people have requested the actual career names I used. I have created an Excel file with a list for each. This is by no means a comprehensive list, but it should help. I have also included the same list in a Word file that you can print. You will need to adjust the font and size to your liking, so I left it as a Word file instead of a PDF. I've also added a Word file with a picture of a compass that is enlarged. This is not how I did it--I used my Silhouette machine--but lacking that, this is another way to create it. Just print the file, then use the images as a template to create your compass. It will take four sheets of paper to print. One final note--I suggest you put yours in a different order than I did. Skilled and Tech has a LOT of jobs and I ran out of room. I wish I'd switched Skilled with Information Technology, which has the fewest job titles. |
